Privacy policy
How we handle personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who we are
Induna Training and Occupational Safety Practitioners (Co. Reg. 2012/048407/07) ("Induna", "we", "us"), Welkom, Free State. This policy applies to personal information we receive through this website, by phone, WhatsApp or email, and in the course of our work.
Our Information Officer is Casper Maree, Director: 083 273 2334, casper@indunatrng.co.za.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the personal information we reasonably need for our services. This is usually contact and company details, and the information needed to prepare the documents, records and training our clients ask for.
Some work, such as contractor onboarding on mines and other sites, may require special personal information, for example medical fitness certificates or security clearance and criminal record checks. We handle this information only where the law or a client's site requirements call for it.
Where a client gives us information about its employees or contractors, the client is responsible for making sure it may share that information with us.
3. How we use it
We use personal information to reply to enquiries, provide our services, meet legal and site requirements, run our business and keep the records we are required to keep. We do not sell personal information.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is needed for the work or allowed by law. This may include the client, mine or site the work is for, the platforms they use, government bodies where the law requires it, our professional advisers, and service providers that help us communicate and keep records, such as email, WhatsApp and file storage services. Some of these services may store information outside South Africa, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
5. Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No system or transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us electronically.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law or our client agreements require.
7. This website
Information you send us through this website reaches us by email or WhatsApp. This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for security. Links to other websites are subject to those websites' own policies.
8. Your rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use, as POPIA allows. Contact our Information Officer using the details above. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za. Our PAIA manual explains how to request records.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page.
